RUNWAY Roots is the Home of Reparative Capital
RUNWAY Roots is a Black woman-founded financial innovation group and the home for reparative capital. Unlike conventional financial institutions, our work is built on a financial framework that centers founders and entrepreneurs, redefines risk, and emphasizes community decision-making. We develop and manage funds, financial products, and programming to educate and shift the culture of finance toward an economy that loves Black people.
Mission
RUNWAY Roots catalyzes economic justice by shifting capital, power, and the culture of finance to nurture liberation, power building, and generational wealth in Black communities.
Vision
RUNWAY Roots envisions a world where racial equity, justice, and Black liberation are the norm—not the exception—and where, as a result, all communities thrive and coexist in shared dignity and harmony.

We believe the first step toward building an economy rooted in equity, justice, and Black liberation is to reimagine the system we inherited. By transforming outdated financial policies, practices, and narratives—and replacing them with just and restorative alternatives—we’re actively dismantling systemic barriers and making space for self-determination and community wealth-building in Black communities.

We are not asking for permission—we are reclaiming what has always been ours and reshaping systems that were never built for us. This means reclaiming the narrative from scarcity to abundance, restoring ancestral norms of collaboration, collectivism, and connection, and eliminating outdated bureaucratic practices that waste time and limit self-determination. Like our elders before us, we are reclaiming our time—to nourish ourselves, support our communities, and move with bold purpose toward liberation.

We prioritize transformational relationships over transactional ones. We invest the time, energy, and care it takes to uphold integrity and trust. From how we lend to how we collaborate, we are shifting the power dynamics between entrepreneurs and investors—centering the needs of those receiving capital and building mutual benefit rooted in right relationship.

We believe financial practices that build power, foster liberation, and support generational wealth are essential to repairing the harms caused by extractive systems. Through community-informed approaches that meet the self-determined needs of Black communities, we’re building a bridge—one that connects capital to communities in ways that restore trust, heal relationships, and transform the financial ecosystem.
A Team Planted in Purpose
RUNWAY Roots runs on experience-informed leadership.
We are led by a Black women-centric team of visionaries, activists, entrepreneurs, innovators, investors, and grassroots organizers. Our work is informed by lived experience of the glory of Blackness as well as the terror of anti-Blackness and other systemic barriers; belief in economic prosperity for Black people; and commitment to collaboration, collectivism, and connection.
